Big Pads and Small Yards
Hydroseeding in Groveport splits into two very different kinds of work. On one side are large distribution centers and warehouses drawn by Rickenbacker International Airport and the Air National Guard base. On the other are older homes in a town that began in 1846, when the rival canal villages of Wert's Grove and Rarey's Port merged along the Ohio and Erie Canal.
Distribution center sites
Warehouse projects disturb many acres at once, with long, flat pads, detention basins and drainage swales. That much bare ground needs perimeter silt fence, inlet protection at every catch basin and fast stabilization. We hydroseed basins, berms and outlots in phases as grading finishes, and the basin side slopes where water moves fast get bonded fiber matrix or rolled erosion blankets.
Flat ground, slow water
Large, level sites drain slowly, so swales and ditches carry most of the runoff. Seeding a ditch with plain mulch is risky because concentrated flow cuts it apart. Blankets in the flow line, with hydroseed on the shoulders, hold up much better.
Canal-era village lots
The older part of town still has the feel of a canal village, including the Groveport Log House built in 1815. Yards here are smaller and older. Typical jobs are lawn repair after utility work, overseeding thin turf and light regrading to fix low spots.
Water within city limits
Census figures show about 0.23 square miles of water within Groveport's 8.79 square miles, a higher share than many nearby suburbs. Ponds and basins on commercial sites need stable, seeded banks to keep sediment out of the water.

Groveport Questions
Can you seed detention basins on a warehouse site?
Yes. Basin bottoms get hydroseed, and side slopes get blankets or bonded fiber matrix.
How do you keep a seeded ditch from washing out?
We line the flow path with an erosion control blanket and hydroseed the shoulders.
Do you do small residential lawns in old Groveport too?
Yes. Overseeding, patch repair and small grading jobs are common.
Can you phase seeding as a big site is graded?
Yes. We come back as areas reach final grade so bare soil is not left open for long.
