Seeding Bare Ground on Central Ohio Till
Hydroseeding Columbus sprays new lawns, seeds builder lots and commercial sites, installs erosion blankets and hydromulch on slopes and ditches, puts in silt fence and inlet protection, grades and spreads topsoil, and overseeds thin lawns across Columbus and the towns around it.
We built the business around the ground here. Most of Central Ohio was flattened by a glacier, which left wide till plains with silty topsoil over a dense, clay-rich subsoil that holds water through the spring. Columbus gets about 41.6 inches of precipitation in a normal year, and summer thunderstorms can drop a lot of it at once. A flat yard on that soil drains slowly, and a creek-side slope can wash out in a single storm. Seed that would sprout fine in a nursery bed often fails here because the prep was rushed or the timing was wrong.
So we spend more time on the dirt than on the spray. We check where water goes before we quote, we loosen and level the surface before seed goes down, and we tell you plainly when a date on the calendar is a poor one for seeding.
Our approach on every job
- No number until we have been on the property, and we judge drainage, slope and soil there, not just square footage
- The written quote lists grading, topsoil, seed mix, mulch type and any blankets or silt fence as separate lines
- We recommend a seeding window based on the grass you want and the season, and we say so if waiting a few weeks will give you a better lawn
- On builder and commercial jobs we work from your stormwater plan and keep perimeter controls in place until the ground is stabilized
- Every seeding comes with written watering and first-mow instructions
- If something fails to come in, we come back out and look at it with you
